Work Ordered Day
FOCUS Clubhouse is organized around a structured system called a work-ordered day. At this time, our work ordered day consist Monday through Friday, 10:00 am - 3:00 pm. paralleling similar working hours of the business community. During this time, members and staff work together as colleagues to carry out the tasks involved in running a Clubhouse. Members volunteer to participate according to their individual interests. Clubhouse work units include cooking and cleaning, gardening, fundraising, research, assisting each other with housing, outreach, new staff orientation, assistance with education, administering the employment programs, planning social activities, intake and orientation of new members, evaluation of Clubhouse effectiveness and outreach.
CULINARY In our CULINARY area of our Daily Unit members supply snacks and lunch to all members within the clubhouse for a nominal cost of $2.00 It is not only a place where meals are prepared, but it also is a place where members learn how to do supply inventory and cashier as well. It is the only thing that members of the clubhouse pay for. We charge a minimal amount for lunches and haven’t yet started breakfast hours or a snack bar due to our shorter than 8-hour work day. As we grow with more members we will also grow with a longer day and will be able to add these things to our culinary unit. We are really looking forward to that day. |
